City dining has been on the up and up in recent months. Barangaroo helped upgrade the business lunch in a big way with its dedicated dining precinct; Hubert raised the stakes on how much fun a city restaurant could be; and now District Brasserie is bringing large scale, New-York bistro vibes to Chifley Square. The new 200-seat restaurant is beautifully designed for that olde world finance vibe, but if you’re just here for a quick getaway there’s a bakery too serving Single O coffee, naturally fermented organic sourdough bread, and smoked ham and Gruyere toasties. At night they’re cooking a classic cote de boeuf in the Spanish charcoal oven, slicing up charcuterie board s and pouring form a list of 120 wines.

District Brasserie opens in Sydney’s Chifley building on Monday 10 July. The modern Australian bar and restaurant will provide a casual yet refined dining experience within the newly revamped retail and dining precinct.

From traditional Cantonese to award-winning burgers and an upmarket sushi bar, these new — and revamped — culinary hotspots have just swung open their doors and are guaranteed to make every foodie’s month.

Another 200 restaurant seats hit the Sydney CBD with the opening of District Brasserie, but the Chifley Plaza start-up will offer its bakery as a teaser from today.

Chifley Tower is one of the tallest buildings in Sydney, housing close on 5000 worker bees. The tower and plaza is located in the business and lawyer central of the CBD and while housing an entire suburb of business Monday to Friday it’s a ghost town on the weekends. District Brasserie serves breakfast, lunch and dinner with all the accoutrements for the business week.
